do i have to buy a coffin from the undertakers?

Do you have to buy a coffin from an undertaker? No you don't. Undertakers are beginning to realise that a great many people want to buy this last gift for someone who has died themselves, not through a third-party.You can source your own coffin from for example a local willowcoffin maker like ourselves, you will get the coffin for a fair price and it will be made by a local craftsperson and you will be supporting a local business

Do we supply our coffins to funeral directors?

We do supply a few small family run local funeral directors. The lovely Peter Jacksons in Henstridge Somerset and Chester Pearce Associates based near Poole in Dorset, both of whom provide a wonderful, caring, first class service. The coffin pictured below is our “Autumn Leaves” design. A round ended buff willow coffin with hazel wood fastenings for the lid, this beautiful coffin will be shortly delivered by ourselves to Peter Jacksons funeral directors. We mainly sell our hand made willow coffins direct to the families we help and these can be delivered anywhere in the country. For more information on this, and to see our range of willow coffin designs visit our willow coffins page on the website.

Can you be cremated in a willow coffin?

Yes, willow (or wicker coffins, as they are sometimes called) can be cremated or buried. Our hand made willow coffins are ideal for cremation - willow is a fast growing and sustainable wood resource, which makes it particularly suitable for the short lifespan of a cremated coffin.

Pictured below is one of our new designs, called Highland Heather. There are six more basic designs at Cradle to Grave, but we also cater for completely bespoke designs which can include elements of both natural coloured willows and special hand dyed colours. Have a look at some of our designs on the Willow coffins page and in our gallery.
